Kristin’s ROW80 Check-In for 01/25/12

Happy Wednesday fellow writers!

Whew, it has been another chaotic week for this girl!  I have been on the house hunt for almost a week now, rushing around after working hours to find the perfect home.  It has been hectic!  I haven’t been getting in until after nine in the evenings, so you can imagine how I have been scurrying around trying to keep to my normal, daily routine.  🙂

Here is the breakdown for the first part of the week!

Monday-  I managed to get out 129 words toward my short story. **WOO HOO**  I also wrote out some more ‘future’ ideas, hoping to eventually get around to them. 🙂

Tuesday-  Yesterday wasn’t very promising.  Due to my exhaustion and inability to focus, I wrote for 20 minutes and crashed!  (I did manage to get en entire 8 hours of sleep last night)

Wednesday-  Today has been a little better.  I get an hour for lunch and wrote for 45 minutes of it!  After work, I plan on writing up this week’s blog and hope to work on my story a little more.  This has been the longest short story to write!! 🙂

After a lot of consideration, I have decided to tweak my goals just a little!  Reality is a little crazy for me right now, but I am determined to find a good routine.

***NEW GOALS***

1.  Instead of forcing an hour of writing every evening, I am going to shoot for 100 words per day!  I’ve discovered that is an easier feat!  Slowly yet surely…

2.  I will keep my blog posting to twice a week; however, they may not fall on Mondays and Fridays. Plus, I’ve decided to do an author feature (either weekly or bi-weekly).  **This excludes my ROW80 updates and Six Sentence Sunday posts**

3.  I’m still shooting for the completion of my story!  (I know, pathetic!)  The timing is still uncertain. 🙂

4.  I plan on writing 2 more flash fictions.  One is already in the works!

5.  I’m going to be commenting more on other blog sites and doing more with RTs on Twitter!  I love to interact with other writers, so please feel free to follow me on Twitter ( I FOLLOW BACK) or look me up on Facebook.

As for my fellow ROW80ers, I do read your check-ins and try to keep up with other posts.  I apologize if I haven’t commented very much!  I try to catch up throughout the week via Android, so commenting can get a little tedious!!

I am so proud of everyone who is maintaining their goals!  Mixing writing into reality can become a challenge!!  Kudos to all!

ROW80 Check-In for 01/18/2012

Happy hump day fellow ROW80ers!!

It has been a great week for writing! **YAY**  I hope that everyone is doing well!

Here is this week’s breakdown:

Monday- I posted a blog entitled “Lost In Transition…My Awkward Journey Through the Unknown!”  My word count for the day totaled 1,293. *WOO HOO*

Tuesday- I actually made decent progress on my short story.  It feels like it is beginning to flow! My word count for the day was 300. I also managed to write out some details for my flash fiction and came up with three prompts for my blog.  🙂

Wednesday- I did some blog hopping today (trying to catch up).  It was a late evening for me, but I am going to at least get in 30 minutes of uninterrupted writing in after this is posted!

I have no complaints so far!  The week has been pretty slow for me, which means I get to write!  Best wishes to all for the remainder of the week!

***Happy Writing***

Sunday ROW80 Check-In 1/15/2012

Hello to all of my ROW80 friends!! 🙂

I can’t believe it is already time to begin another week!  Well, there hasn’t been much of a change since my last check-in.  I’m not sure if that is good or bad! 🙂

Thursday- I did write for one hour.  However, I did not add very much to my story due to all of the changes I made!  I did a read over and decided that I wasn’t happy with some of the wording.

Friday- Posted my blog “If I Knew Then…What I Know Now!”.  I decided to go with that theme on Fridays; that is, until I run out of ideas!  As for my short story, I only worked on it for about 45 minutes. 😦

Saturday- One hour of writing succeeded!  Once again, I did some rewriting.  Plus, I did manage to get caught up on reading some blogs that were posted earlier in the week.  🙂

Overall, I did not accomplish what I hoped to (as far as word count goes), but some progress is better than none!  I am getting a little discouraged with my story because I feel like I am getting nowhere with it.  Optimism is definitely on my list of priorities for this week and thereafter!  I apologize for my rambling. 🙂

Here’s hoping that all of you had a successful week with your writing!  Life has a tendency to throw wedges in the way, but with the right attitude we can overcome anything!

Best wishes for the week ahead!!

***Have a great Sunday***

Six Sentence Sunday #9

Hello readers and fellow sixers!!

Another week has come and gone and once again I find myself planning the new week ahead!  It is exhausting. 🙂  Last week was a little disappointing because I felt like I accomplished nothing.  One thing is for sure, I ran around like a crazy person all week!

I will now get on with this week’s six! Of course, it is from my short story “What Matters Most” (the one I feel like I will NEVER finish).   Enjoy!

Right as you walk in was the stairway, decorated with fresh green garland and twinkling white lights.  The fireplace was crafted with perfectly proportioned stonework and a honey oak mantel to complete the look.  Hardwood flooring and crown molding accented the rooms.   Off to the right I could see into what I assumed to be the dining area.  In the room was a beautiful antique table that had a setting for each seat and a baby grand piano in the far corner.  It was ravishing!

I enjoyed writing out the description of the bed and breakfast!  It is exactly what I would love to have in my next home.  There is a lot of ‘wishful thinking’ going on in my head! 😉  Thanks to everyone who stopped by to check out my post!  It is always a pleasure to hear from you.

I Am Who I Am…

The first week of 2012 has come to a close!  I’m still coming off of the chaos and exhaustion and it was only a four-day work week.  The New Year started off with a bang and now I feel like everything is settling back into the same old routine!  Well, I refuse to let myself fall into another slump (in any area of my life).  Procrastination is my worst enemy, lurking around in hopes to step in at any given time.  Yes, I have a tendency to succumb to its evil plot!  My mind is filled with what I believe to be ingenious ideas, but my actions show no motivation whatsoever.  It is disappointing.

I tweeted this comment yesterday….I am who I am.  I’m finally happy with that!  Most of my time is spent on the next big idea, trying to develop a way of becoming someone.  With writing, for example, I waste so much time trying to compile my thoughts and ideas that I burn myself out on the whole thing and give up until I feel like picking it back up.  I’m too obsessed with writing that ‘perfect’ piece.   Of course, I think about my readers and what would be of interest, but I also want to express myself as well.  The quickest way to destroy a passion is by allowing the joy to slip away.  I can think of countless times where I have demolished my enthusiasm because my focus was no longer on the passion!  The same goes with my career.  For years, my focus remained on where I wanted to be within a certain amount of time.  There was no enjoyment in my work, so I eventually reached burn-out mode.

My plans for this year are to take one day at a time, relax, and do what I can without stressing to the point of giving up!  I have very reasonable writing/personal goals set and I hope to maintain a clear mind while working towards them.  We live on numbered days, why waste time over something that is out of our hands?  I’m not saying that I am giving up on what the future holds, but I am now trying to appreciate what I have presently have.  In other words, I am who I am.  It will be what it is going to be.  I’m happy with that!

I appreciate all who support me through the ups and downs of writing.  If it weren’t for my family and the wonderful writers I have met by social networking, I’m sure I would have given it up.  It is a struggle and a challenge, but it is also a passion!  As for the personal goals, I finally feel like I have found my place.  (Now, let’s hope that I can maintain that status) 🙂

Here’s to hoping that each and every one who has a goal or dream to fulfill does so!  If not, that is still ok, because if you gave it your all…that is an accomplishment in its own!
